Shallow information

I purchased this app hoping for photographic tips. Sadly disappointed. There is very little content in the actual guides. They have some nice photos, but provide no info showing how to capture them. Better off looking at the online NPS sites.

Great reference

This app has something for pretty much anyone in a national park. We have used it for a one day trip to Bryce Canyon, and a two week intimate excursion in Zion. It has some good suggestions for great photos, and is a great reference for what facilities are where. Its easily worth a few bucks to have a handy reference in your pocket.

Good not great

I like the app but I wish it had more details. Better history, better trail information. This app is good but could be great.

Lovely pictures

What a delightful change from news full of murder and violence. The magnificent photos bring me peace. A. Reeve

Maybe its me....

but Im not impressed. For Shenandoah, I cannot find any trails, or even the park boundary on the map. Indeed, there is no map--only an aerial photograph. Theres just not much here.

Missing Several Parks

This app has approximately 30 parks, but there are over 50 National Parks. Missing Theodore Roosevelt National Park, despite its well recognized and respected biking trails.

Planned ten day solo camping trip to Big Bend with this app

Best app on my ipad. It helped me plan a ten day solo excursion camping trip for my first trip to Big Bend. It would be better if there were more pictures but what it has is amazing. I never would have known what to see without it.

Missing Michigan Parks

The app is missing both Michigan natl parks, Sleeping Bear Dunes and Pictured Rocks. Limited use without in-app purchases.

Needs service to work?!?

Went to Mount Rainer park the other day, thought "Ill use that national park app I got", but no. Many of the features require phone service to work, particularly the maps to find where to go. Youd think that Nat. Geo. could include a built in map, but apparently not. Inside the park, theres basically no service, so the app was useless.

Not worth the price of admission.

There was nothing in the app that wasnt available for free online. The only thing your paying for is the photos within the app.

Are you kidding?

This App is crap. It covers 1/3 of the National Parks and none of the monuments, battlefields, recreation areas, etc. The fact that National Geographic has the balls to charge for this is apalling. Stay away. Dont give them your money for this inferior product. Try instead, Passport to your National Parks ... a FREE App. I will delete this one so I can put something useful on my phone.

Waste of money

It is unbelievable how the National Geographic brand dares release such a useless guide. The Rocky Mountain park guide has zero (0!!) "things to do" in the park, five dull photo tips, and 11 "things to see", which are merely 11 pictures that they were kind enough to share with no further explanations. Seriously ? Dont waste your money on this app.

Pass on the Full Guide Purchase

Spent $13 for guides for all the parks, and it is a waste of money. The activities they suggest are no brainers. "go on a picnick", drive this scenic road, etc. I was hoping for insights on specific trails and sights, suggestions for the better areas to see, but the suggestions provided are very generic. Disappointed

Not worth the in app purchase

I bought the full park guide thinking it would unlock more info. It doesnt. It just gives you access to a few pictures. The app doesnt seem to get updated with new content either. Not worth the money at all, even if you just buy one park. The app would have a lot of potential with more offline content and more unique park information then just some pictures.

Dont waste your money

Im a hiker and backpacker. I purchased the app because it had info on most of the big parks I want to visit. What they dont tell you is how little info they give you in the app. Then they charge you $14.00 for "the full guide" to all the parks. Well I got suckered into that one, only to find out that they give you barely any additional info despite the larger sum. Save your money and visit the park service website where you can download all the info you want for free and itll have all the latest info you need as well.

Problems

Bought the upgraded version and downloaded using iPad. Doesnt work on my phone

Ms

HORRIBLE!!! Not worth the $2. No maps, not interactive. Only opinions and pretty photos that have no reference information attached about how to get to the points of interest depicted. Find another way to learn about your national park.

Bring back the old release

I hate that the upgrades made what was a good app now crap. Please bring back old options. I am also really mad that the updates erased all my drop pins

No such thing as App Support

I bought the Great Smoky Mtns guide for an upcoming trip. It only downloaded on my IPad not my IPhone. I contacted support their response was "that shouldnt be the case. " They sent me a link to fix the problem. I also tried deleting and reinstalling. I let them know and 4 days later still no response $1.99 wasted.

Orientation Issue Lingers On...

Unfortunately the issue where the app stays in portrait even if youre holding your iPad in landscape still isnt fixed... Photography for this app is stunning...
